Gettiing props ready to use

It getting ready for the up and coming holiday season, I figured i would share what I'm doing to get ready.

I use an artificial tree, with white lights evenly hung on the different sections of the tree.  I follow this up with some nice size ornaments ( easily seen, but not distracting ).  Next, I use either a solid black backdrop, a velvet back drop of different seasonal colors.  If using someone dressed as Santa, be sure not to use red as it may blend with your Santa. If your on location and have a  fitting setting for the pictures, a backdrop may not need to be used..  Then used packaging boxes make for good presents.  I use any size i can get within reason.  Add some studio lighting, camera, and all you need are people for your portrait session.  Of course you can change your set up depending on what you want and can afford.  For me this is just cost effective!

Newborn baby pictures

Baby Pictures

The best time to take those adorable newborn pictures is within 6-9 days after birth.  This is the best time

for getting those posed shots of your baby..  Nine months to a year, for your next set of pictures. 

Clothing for your baby, and yourself depends on the images you are wanting.  We will talk about that before your session.  I do suggest that the mother be in at least some of the images.  A newborn or toddler session typically last from an hour to 2 hours.

Getting a photographer for your wedding

I've been asked a number of times, when is the best time to hire a photographer for your wedding.  Ideally shortly after your engaged to insure that you get the photographer you want.  I would also say given a 1 year or more engagement at least 6 to 8 months before your wedding.  The same would go for anyone that is service oriented. (  caterers, dj's, venues ).  This increases the chances that you will get your pick of each.  This allows you to enjoy the time leading up to your wedding!

Product review

This past Christmas i added a point and shoot camera to my equipment.  Always good to have a backup camera or 2!  I've been really happy with mine.  It is a Sony Cyber Shot, with  a Carl Zeiss lens,  16.2 mp, and also records HD video.  Price range from $150 to $200.

Update:  Some pictures taken with my Sony Cyber Shot.  It has been a great stand by!
