Ever wondered how some photographers get that picture of a butterfly, or of a bird flying by? For me it is about knowing the environment for the subject you wish to photograph. A butterfly for instance can often be found around zinnias, or cosmos just to name a few. It is also easy to plant some of these if you wish to attract them to your location.. I usually use a humming bird feeder to get a picture of a humming bird. The are also attracted by plants with a sweet smell or have a reddish color to them. Another tip is to try and get down to eye level with what ever you are photographing. It typically gives you a shallow depth of field which helps distinguish your subject from its background. You need some time. It helps to be patient. You may wait 30 minutes to a couple of hours for that shot, Hope some of these tips are helpful to you in getting that nice nature shot!
