I've been asked by a few brides " When should i get this done?" As a photographer I would day 6 months to a year out. That gives you a good chance of landing the photographer you want. This also applies to most wedding specialist. Last year a person close to me got married. Tried to give them advice about when to prepare certain aspects of their wedding. Well they waited, and ended up with what I think was the 2nd or 3rd choice for reception spots, and the church was not their 1st either. Sometimes by planning early you can also find deals, and it helps to keep you from having a headache with the details at the last minute. If your getting engagement pictures I would say no later than 4-6 months before, and bridal portraits no later than a month before the big day. In general the last month leading up to your wedding should be a time to take it all in, and enjoy it!
